DevHouse Boston

This Sunday, September 16, I will be attending DevHouse Boston, a one day hacking event bringing together programmers, designers, and others to "hack out something cool." The event, held at a Cambridge, MA co-working facility called BetaHose, is entirely improvisational - developers can drop by with an idea they'd like to work on, or join others in doing something interesting.

I haven't yet worked up an idea for the event, except that I'd like to work on a Facebook application. I'm fascinated by the new Facebook applications platform and the potential it has for driving forward the state-of-the-art in community-oriented web developments. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to learn much about the platform, and I hope to do so soon.

DevHouse Boston is a great example of the kind of project I like to take part in - it is the perfect example of a community of people coming together to brainstorm and put into practice bright ideas. This will be the third such event in Boston (predecessors include the Super Happy Dev House in San Francisco), and I've heard wonderful things about those previous events. So I'm certainly very excited to take part.

After the event I'll post here about how the day turned out. It should be fun!
